This aerial panoramic
photograph of New York was taken by James Blakeway and features
a view of Manhattan, looking south from over Central Park. The
southern third of New York's 843-acre Central Park is visible in
this panorama. Central Park, created in 1853 and opened to the
public in 1859, stemmed from the admiration of public grounds in
London and Paris. Also visible, in the center of this panorama,
is New York's tallest building, the 102-story Empire State
Building. Manhattan is bordered by the Hudson River on the right
and the East River on the left. The Statue of Liberty is visible
in the distance just right of the Empire State Building. The
Verrazano Bridge is visible in the distance left of the Empire
State Building.
