Located in front of the Capitol is the Science Museum of
Minnesota with the Exel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota
Wild Hockey Team, to its left. Located on the banks of the
Mississippi River, St. Paul and neighboring Minneapolis are
often referred to as the Twin Cities. Incorporated as a town in
1849, St. Paul was host to the first legislature of the
Minnesota Territory and has been the capital ever since.
