The 2004 Saint Paul Winter Carnival Ice Palace, built as a centerpiece to the oldest and largest winter carnival in the nation. To the right of the Ice Palace is Xcel Energy Center, home of the Minnesota Wild Hockey Team. The brightly lit Minnesota State Capitol, with its domed roof, is visible in the background. Located on the banks of the Mississippi River, St. Paul and neighboring Minneapolis are often referred to as the Twin Cities.
